Fitting your helmet - Fixed Sized Helmets
- Measure the circumference of your head with a tape measure from just above the ear round to approximately an inch above the eyebrow. Assess head and pick a size.
- Put the helmet on. Check the helmet fits equally around the head. Feel with the tip of your finger for any gaps, front back and side.
- Lace up the rear of the helmet firmly.
- Lift the helmet off slowly to see if the skin on the forehead and eyebrows lift with the helmet. Repeat a couple of times.
- Check movement front to back and side to side, movement should be minimal and only your scalp moving with the helmet.
- If gaps are found in the helmet and it is too big you have
two options:
- Try the next size down
- Sizing tape can be used in the front, back or sides of the helmet. Place the sizing tape inside the padding and check fit before sticking it in.
- If the helmet is too small try the next size up.
- Tip head to see if the helmet is secure even when NOT fastened.
- Finally if you are happy with the fit of the helmet make sure you fit the chin strap snugly under the chin.
