Fitting your helmet - Fixed Sized Helmets

  1. Measure the circumference of your head with a tape measure from just above the ear round to approximately an inch above the eyebrow. Assess head and pick a size.
  2. Put the helmet on. Check the helmet fits equally around the head. Feel with the tip of your finger for any gaps, front back and side.
  3. Lace up the rear of the helmet firmly.
  4. Lift the helmet off slowly to see if the skin on the forehead and eyebrows lift with the helmet. Repeat a couple of times.
  5. Check movement front to back and side to side, movement should be minimal and only your scalp moving with the helmet.
  6. If gaps are found in the helmet and it is too big you have two options:
    1. Try the next size down
    2. Sizing tape can be used in the front, back or sides of the helmet. Place the sizing tape inside the padding and check fit before sticking it in.
  7. If the helmet is too small try the next size up.
  8. Tip head to see if the helmet is secure even when NOT fastened.
  9. Finally if you are happy with the fit of the helmet make sure you fit the chin strap snugly under the chin.
